A perfect day for May Day. Warm sunshine, clear blue skies, gentle breeze. My little lilac bush is in full bloom and scents the air heavily. This isn't the tree sized plant as the garden is too small for one of those, but a polite form that grows no more than about 3 feet high. I grow it because in the year Laura was born, the lilacs came into bloom between my going into hospital to have her and returning home with my precious daughter. This is now in full flower 3 weeks earlier than her birthday.
